This refers to the excessive hunger often experienced by diabetes patients. This abnormal hunger is only a reaction of the body to a lack of glucose or sugar, thus starving the body cells. The diabetic patient is tempted to eat more and more. And yet, the more food the patient consumes, the more the glucose level rises. And the more overall body weight increases.

Polydipsia 

This is known as the dryness of the mouth which often results to excessive thirst and the urge to take in liquid. Due to the high quantity of body fluids lost through urine, the body experiences dryness of the mouth and excessive thirst. The diabetes patient has an intense craving for water and yet is never satisfied.

Loss of Weight

Because the cells are starved of glucose or sugar, the body begins to make use of stored fats so as to nourish the cells. When this phenomenon continues for a long period of time, the patients begins to lose weight.

Itching 

Persistent itching all over the body, especially in the genital areas of the body is a sign of diabetes. This is true, especially in women. If a woman persistently experiences itching in her vagina, a medical checkup is necessary.

Weakness and Tiredness 

It is not only the fats that are used. The body system also feeds on the proteins in the body, which leads to general weakness and tiredness. This is a very common symptom of diabetes today.
